titleOfInvention Treating method of aliphatic dicarboxylic ester
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound simply, by the neutralization of an estrification reaction mixture of a 12W18C aliphatic dicarboxylic acid with a 1W3C saturated monohydric alcohol in the presence of an aromatic hydrocarbon and a basic metallic oxide in the solid state and in the absence of water, and separation of the solid from the liquid. n CONSTITUTION: A 12W18C aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, e.g. thapsic acid, is esterified with a 1W3C saturated monohydric alcohol, e.g. ethanol, in the presence of an acidic catalyst, e.g. p-toluenesulforic acid, and the crude reaction solution after the elimination of water and the alcohol is neutralized with a basic compound selected from a solid basic metallic oxide, hydroxide and carbonate, e.g. magnesium oxide, substantially in the absence of water and the presence of an aromatic hydrocarbon, e.g. benzene. The basic compound in the solid state is separated from the neutralized reaction mixture, to give the titled compound useful as an intermediate for a musk perfume by the simple operation in a good shelf life and high purity with the suppressed loss of the raw material and side reactions. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
