PURPOSE: The reaction between styrene, carbon monoxide, alcohol and oxygen is effected in the presence of a catalyst of mixture of specific metals to produce cinnamic ester used as a starting material of agricultural chemical and photosensitive resin from inexpensive starting materials in high yield. n CONSTITUTION: The reaction between styrene and its derivative, carbon monoxide, alcohol and oxygen is conducted at room temperature to 250°C and normal pressure to 300kg/cm 2 G in the presence of a catalyst of a mixture containing 3 kinds of salts, (a) metallic platinum or its compound, (b) copper or iron salt and (c) organic acid salt of metal selected from alkali, alkaline earth and aluminum groups. In the catalyst, the atomic ratio of the metallic platinum to the copper or iron is 1:0.01W200 and the molar ratio of the copper or iron salt to the organic acid salt is 1:0.01W100. Since all of starting materials are inexpensive, this process is industrially advantageous. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio |
