abstract | PURPOSE: To prepare a nylon salt, stably, in high efficiency, by the cooling and crystallization of a homogeneous solution of an equimolar salt of a long-chain aliphatic diamine and a long-chain aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, in a mixed solvent composed of water and a specific ratio of an alcohol. n CONSTITUTION: An equimolar nylon salt is prepared from a diamine component selected from undecamethylenediamine and dodecanediamine and a dicarboxylic acid component selected from azelaic acid, sebacic acid, and dodecanedionic acid. A homogeneous solution of the equimolar nylon salt is prepared using a mixed solvent composed of 20W80, pref. 40W60wt% of water and 80W20, pref. 60W40wt% of an alcohol, and is cooled and crystallized at 50W90°C to obtain the objective nylon salt. The high-precision pH control is not necessary, and the impurities can be easily removed.
