titleOfInvention Optically active alcoholic compound and its preparation
abstract NEW MATERIAL:Optically active (E)-3-hydroxy-4-methyl-oct-4-ene-1,7-diyne having the (-) optical rotatory power in diethyl ether expressed by formula I. n USE: An alcoholic component in a carboxylic ester expressed by formula II having an extremely strong knockdown or lethal effect on a variety of sanitary injurious insects, and its intermediate. n PROCESS: (E)-3-Acetoxy-4-methyl-oct-4-ene-1,7-diyne of high optical purity expressed by formula III is formed by using a culture fluid of Bacillus subtilis var. niger (IFO 3108), and the resultant acetate compound is solvolyzed with methyl or ethyl alcohol in the presence of a base, e.g. anhydrous K 2 CO 3 , in a catalytic amount, etc., at 0W35°C, to give a compound expressed by formula I, in high optical purity and relatively high yield and very advantageous to physiological activity. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
