titleOfInvention Self-adhesive or adhesive tape
abstract PURPOSE: To provide an excellent self-adhesive or adhesive tape which eliminates the need for isolating the air or evaporating a solvent, by using a composition containing an acrylic polymer having epoxy groups and a catalyst for liberating Lewis acid by activated light. n CONSTITUTION: A copolymer of an unsaturated vinyl compd. having epoxy groups., such as glycidyl (meth)acrylate or acryl glycidyl ether with an acrylic ester, acrylic acid, etc., and 2W10pts.wt., per 100pts.wt. of the copolymer, of a catalyst, such as a aromatic diazonium salt of halogen compd. represented by the formula, liberating Lewis acid by activated light, such as ultraviolet light, are mixed to provide an adhesive. This adhesive is placed in a kiss-coater coating pan 2 and is coated by the use of a kiss-coater roller 3 on a tape such as polyethylene film sent from a roller 1. The adhesive is irradiated with an activated light irradiator 4 in the air so that an adhesive tape is produced and wound. The process thus provides a high-tack adhesive tape which is free of solvent and therefore no sanitary problems due to evaporated solvent is caused. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
