titleOfInvention | Preparation of aromatic thiosulfonate |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound in high yield, by blending an aromatic sulfonic acid chloride with a sulfide or hydrosulfide of an alkali metal, NH 4 , or primary or quaternary ammonium in an aqueous solvent, followed by adding an organic solvent to them, and reacting them. n CONSTITUTION: An aromatic sulfonic acid chloride (e.g., benzenesulfonic acid chloride, etc.) is blended with a sulfide (e.g., Na 2 S, K 2 S, etc.) or hydrosulfide of an alkali metal, NH 4 , or primary or quaternary ammonium in an aqueous solvent at 0W50°C. An organic solvent (e.g., n-hexane, n-heptane, etc.) is added to the mixture and they are reacted at 50W100°C, to give an aromatic thiosulfonate. For example, sodium benzenethiosulfonate is obtained in a yield 97.5mol%. n EFFECT: Since admixture of impurities, e.g., unreacted raw materials, by-products, etc. is extremely small, the solution or slurry at the end of the reaction can be directly fed to the following process. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio |
