titleOfInvention 3,7,11,15-tetramethyl-2,4,6,10,14-hexadecapentaenic acid
abstract NEW MATERIAL:3,7,11,15-Tetramethyl-2,4,6,10,14-hexadecapentaenic acid of formula I and its salts. n USE: Anticancer agent: they show anticancer activity with no problem of hypervitaminosis in A and toxicity, thus being used to prevent and treat cancers and precancers, treatment of dermatophathy accompanied by cornfication such as acne or psoriasis and of inflammatory, allergic dermatopathies and mucosal diseases caused by degenerative or heteroplastic change. The dose is 40mgW4g/adult/day. n PREPARATION: For example, a compound of formula II is made to react with the Wittig reagent derived from another compound of formula III (X is halogen; R 1 is lower alkyl) to form a compound of formula IV, which is hydrolyzed in the presence of a base such as potassium hydroxide to give the compound of formula I and its salt. As the Wittig reagent, is used a phosphorus compound resulting from reaction between a compound of formula III and a trialkyl phosphite. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
