abstract | PURPOSE: N-Cyclohexylidenenitroaniline or its substituted derivative is made to react with an aromatic nitro compound in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst under heating to readily and selectively produce the titled compound used as an intermediate of dyes and medicines. n CONSTITUTION: The reaction between (a) cyclohexylidenenitroaniline of formula I (R 1 is alkyl; n is positive integer ranging in 0≤n≤4, when n is 2 or more, R 1 is partially same or different group; R 2 is alkyl; m is positive integer ranging in 0≤ m≤5, when m is 2 or more, the number of R 2 that can bind with a same carbon atom in the cyclohexane ring is 1 or less) or its N-substituted derivative, and (b) another aromatic nitro compound such as nitrotoluene or nitrobenzene affords the titled compound such as a compound of formula II. The cyclohexylidene group in compound (a) is selectively dehydrogenated and the nitro group in compound (b) is reduced, but the nitro group in compound (a) remains with no change. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio |
