abstract | PURPOSE: The titled composition, containing an active vitamin D 3 derivative, a bile acid and an antioxidant, and having improved chemical stability of the active vitamin D 3 derivative. n CONSTITUTION: A composition containing at least one of active vitamin D 3 derivative of hydroxycholecalciferol expressed by the formula (R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are H or OH; however, at least one of R 1 , R 2 and R 3 is OH), a bile acid, e.g. deoxycholic acid, cholic acid or apocholic acid, and an antioxidant, e.g. butylhydroxytoluene, propyl gallate or lecithin. The amount of the bile acid is in the range of 10W100,000 times that of the compound of the formula, and that of the antioxidant is in the range of 10W10,000 times that of the compound of the formula. The compound of the formula is useful for rachitis and osteomalacia caused by the vitamin D 3 metabolism.
