titleOfInvention Oxygen detecting agent
abstract PURPOSE:To obtain an oxygen detecting agent which is characterized by easy handling and conspicuous change in hue in response to the presence or absence of oxygen by mixing a compound having an oxazine nucleus in its molecule, a ferrous compound, silica-magnesia, and water or alcohol. CONSTITUTION:About 0.001-1wt% compound (A) having an oxazine nucleus in its molecule, shown by formula I (wherein X is oxygen or a group shown by formula II) (e.g. resorufin or gallocyanine), about 10-2,000pts.wt., based on component A, ferrous compound (B) (e.g. ferrous sulfate or ferrous chloride), about 0.1-5,000pts.wt., based on component B, silica-magnesia (C), and about 0.1- 20wt% at least one compound (D) selected from water and alcohol compounds (e.g. ethanol or ethylene glycol) are mixed together to prepare the purpose oxygen detecting agent. Said oxygen detecting agent turns red purple in the presence of oxygen, and turns white in the absence of oxygen. The change in hue is reversible.
