titleOfInvention | Production of polyester |
abstract | PURPOSE: To produce a polyester having a high softening point and a good color, by polymerizing a glycol ester of a bifuctional aromatic carboxylic acid (low polymer thereof) in the presence of a homogeneous solution of a specified polycondensation catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: A homogeneous solution of a polycondensation catalyst is obtained by dissolving a mixture of 1mol of titanium tetraalkoxide such as titanium tetrapropoxide or titanium tetrabutoxide and 0.5W0.6mol of organic carboxylic acid such as acetic acid or benzoic acid in an organic solvent such as ethanol or benzene. Next, the catalyst solution thus prepared is added to a glycol ester of a bifunctional aromatic carboxylic acid and/or a low polymer thereof so that the catalyst solution is present in an amount of 0.001W0.05mol% (calculated as Ti) with respect to the bifunctional carboxylic acid component. The resulting mixture, then, is polycondensed under pressure at a temperature higher than the m.p. and lower than 300°C. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio |
