titleOfInvention 2-oxo-5-vinylcyclopentanecarboxylic ester
abstract NEW MATERIAL:A 2-oxo-5-vinylcyclopentanecarboxylic ester expressed by formula I (R is 1W4C alkyl). n USE: A synthetic intermediate for medicines or perfumes, especially for medicines, e.g. steroid, or perfumes, e.g. jasmone. n PROCESS: A 3-oxo-8-phenoxy-6-octenoic ester expressed by formula II is cyclized under heating in a solvent, e.g. acetonitrile, in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a palladium compound, e.g. palladium acetate and a phosphine compound, e.g. tributylphosphine, to give the compound expressed by formula I. The raw material compound of formula II is readily prepard by the reaction of the dianion of an acetoacetic ester with 1-chloro-4-phenoxy-2-butene. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
