titleOfInvention Preparation of carcinostatic substance
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a carcinostatic substance shinnamin, by extracding the fruit body of edible Flammulina velutipes Sing., precipitating the extract with a solvent, and ultrafiltering and subjecting the precipitate and the supernatant liquid to the ion exchange treatment. n CONSTITUTION: The fruit body of edible Flammulina velutipes Sing. is extracted with hot water or dilute aqueous solution of an alkali, and the resultant extract is precipitated with acetone or a lower alcohol and separated into a precipitate and a suprenatant liquid. Both are then subjected to the ultrafiltration, ion exchange treatment and if necessary the conventional purifying step to give a plurality of fractions having a molecular weight of 300,000W50,000 and 50,000W6,000. The shinnamin components thus obtained are powdery substances consisting of saccharide components containing glucose, mannose, and galactose essentially. Tests on a mouse showed the higher carcinostatic acdivity than the carcinostatic substance derived from basidiomycetes against solid tumors by subcutaneous, abdominal and oral administration. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
