abstract PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as a raw material for various kinds of synthetic industrial products in high purity and in high yield, by reacting a halogenocarboxylic acid with a base in the presence of at least one of quaternary ammonium salt, quaternary phosphonium salt, etc. n CONSTITUTION: A halogenocarboxylic acid shown by the formula I (R 1 and R 2 are H, halogen, alkyl, aryl; R 3 is H, halogen, or alkyl; R 4 is H, alkenyl, alkyl, phenyl, benzyl, cyclo ring; X 1 and X 2 are H or halogen) is reacted with a base to give an unsaturated acid shown by the formula II. In the reaction, 0.1W10mol% based on halogenocarboxylic acid of at least one (e.g., dodecyldimethylbenzyl ammonium chloride) selected from a quaternary ammonium salt shown by the formula III (R 5 W R 8 are alkyl, aryl; Y is N or P; A - is cation), quaternary phosphonium salt, quaternary ammonium type resin, quaternary phosphonium resin is used as a catalyst. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
