titleOfInvention | Preparation of furan |
abstract | PURPOSE: To improve the activity and life of a catalyst containing a palladium salt and an indium compound and obtain furan advantageously, by oxidizing butadiene in the liquid phase with molecular oxygen in the presence if azobisisobutyronitrile and the catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: A palladium salt and an indium compound in an amount of preferably 1/5W5 times the molar amount of the palladium salt are suspended or dissolved in an inert medium, e.g. water, with hydrochloric acid. Azobisisobutyronitrile in an amount of preferably 0.05W0.5mol, based on one mole palladium salt, is added thereto. Butadiene and molecular oxygen or a mixture of oxygen with an inert gas, e.g. air, are passed through the medium and reacted in the liquid phase under a pressure of about 30kg/cm 2 .G and a temperature of preferably 60W130°C to give furan. The presence of the azobisisobutyronitrile in the reaction system improves the activity and life of the catalyst, and provides the furan advantageously. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio |
