abstract | PURPOSE: The titled composition effective for prevention of micro-organisms and mildew of coating compounds, plastics, etc., sterilization of crops, etc., having synergistically improved effects and low toxicity, comprising dehydroacetic acid, sorbic acid or its salt, and a higher alkylamine or its salt. n CONSTITUTION: The titled composition comprising (A) dehydroacetic acid, sobic acid, or its sodium or potassium salt, etc. and (B) an 8W18C higher alkylamine or its salt. Through both the ingredients A and B have microorganisms and mildew preventing actions, the combined use of these compounds improves effects synergistically, to give a fungicide and mildewcide composition having low toxicity and improved safety. Dodecylamine is preferable as the ingredient B, and its salt, e.g., hydrochloride, sorbate, etc. is effective. A blending ratio of the ingredient B to the ingredient A is preferably 30W70%.
