abstract NEW MATERIAL:The titled compounds of formula I [A is H, alkali metal; R is lower alkyl, cycloalkyl, formula II (R 1 is lower alkyl and alkoxy, halogen; n is 0W5)]. n EXAMPLE: 2-Acetyloxymethyl-3,5-dioxo-hexahydro-1,2,4-triazine. n USE: Herbicide: they have a high herbicidal activity against oats and show high selectivity for wheat. Further, they show the herbicidal effect by pre-emergence treatment and weeds are controlled without injuring cotton, rice plant, beet, wheat and so on. They also show a growth regulation effect, when it is applied in a low concentration. The dose is 5W50g/a, based on the effective ingredient. n PREPARATION: A 3,5-dioxo-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1,2,4-triazine derivative of formula II is hydrogenated in an alcoholic solvent in the presence of a catalyst at normal to 50 atmospheric pressure and 0W80°C for 1W12hr to form the compound of formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
