NEW MATERIAL:An enzyme inhibitor M5071. Color and properties: Whilte. Molecular weight: About 34,000 (measured by the Sephadex G-100 chromatography) and about 45,000 (measured by the polyacrylonitrile gel electrophoresis). Isoelectric point: Near pH 3.5. Optical rotation: [α]D 25 =-52°(c=0.1%, pH6.3, 0.1M phosphoric acid buffer solution). Solubility: Readily soluble in water, insoluble in methanol, acetone, etc. Color reactions: Positive to the biuret, xanthoprotein reactions, etc. n USE: An inhibitor for glucosyl transferase, capable of inhibiting the synthesis of insoluble glucan, and useful for preventing dental caries. n PROCESS: A strain of Arthrinium sp. M5071 (FERM-P No.5352) is cultivated in a liquid culture medium, and the filtrate is mixed with ammonium sulfate, etc. to salt out the aimed substance, which is recovered by the centrifugation method, etc. The resultant substance is then purified by the gel filtration, electrophoretic method, etc. to give the substance M5071. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio |
