titleOfInvention | Photo-oxidation of o-dichloromethyl benzotrifluoride |
abstract | PURPOSE: To prepare an o-trifluoromethyl benzoyl chloride, useful as an intermediate of pesticides, etc., in high selectivity, by the photo-oxidation of o-dichloromethyl benzotrifluoride with O 2 in the presence of chlorine under ultraviolet light irradiation. n CONSTITUTION: o-Dichloromethyl benzotrifluoride is irradiated with ultraviolet light in an inert solvent or an alcoholic solvent or without dilution in the presence of chlorine and oxygen at room temperature to 100°C under reduced pressure, to effect the photo-oxidation and to obtain o-trifluoromethyl benzoyl chloride or o- trifluoromethyl benzoic acid ester. The charging rate of chlorine is pref. ≤1mol. Cl 2 /min/1g raw material. When NH 3 or a proper amine is added to the system after the completion of the reaction, an amide is obtained, and the recovery of ester and amide is facilitated compared with the acid chloride such as o-trifluoromethyl benzoyl chloride, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio |
