abstract PURPOSE: To obtain advantageously the titled compound useful as a drug, its intermediate, especially a β-adrenergic neuronal blocking agent, by reacting a specific 6- substituted-2-nitrotoluene derivative with a primary amine. n CONSTITUTION: A compound shown by the formula I [Z is a group shown by the formula II or III (X is halogen)] is reacted with a compound shown by the formula IV (R is alkyl) preferably at 30W220°C to give a nitrotoluene derivative shown by the formula V. When a compound in case that Z is the group shown by the formula II is used, the reaction can be carried out in the presence of a hydrohalogenic acid and when a compound in case that Z is the group shown by the formula III is used, the reaction can be carried out in the presence of a base. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
