titleOfInvention Preparation of nitrotoluene derivative
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain advantageously the titled compound useful as drugs, their intermediates, especially as a β-adrenergic neuronal blocking agent, by reacting a 2- methyl-3-nitrophenol with a specific secondary amine. n CONSTITUTION: A compound shown by the formula I (Y is H or alkali metal) is reacted with a compound shown by the formula II [R is alkyl; Z is epoxy or a group shown by the formula III (X is halogen)] to give a nitrotoluene derivative shown by the formula IV. The reaction is carried out in the presence or sbsence of a solvent, e. g., benzene, toluene, etc. preferably at 30W200°C. When a compound wherein Z is the group shown by the formula III is used, a base, e. g., NaOH, KOH, etc. is perferably present in the reaction. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
