titleOfInvention Membrane formation
abstract PURPOSE: To form a selective permeable membrane having a high permeability of water, etc. and a sufficient practical strength, by rinsing a coagulated and regenerated cuprammonium membrane, and by drying the membrane, stretched at a specific ratio in a lateral direction, under tension. n CONSTITUTION: A cuprammonium membrane, coagulated, regenerated, and rinsed with water, is stretched at a ratio of 1.3W2.2 in the lateral direction, and dried under tension. The microstructure of the membrane thus obtained comprises crystalline micelles and molecular chains in the amorphous region oriented almost randomly in the longitudinal and lateral directions, and the networks formed by the stretched chains are markedly enlarged. The permeability of substances, e.g. water permeability, is high, and the tendency to shrink on wetting in the longitudinal and lateral directions provides a negative wet shrinkage, and further a high wet bursting strength. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
