abstract | PURPOSE: A long-acting herbicide for applying to the leaves and stalks of annual or perennial weeds, containing a specific bisphosphonic acid derivative or its salt, and one or more compounds selected from a specific chelating agent and an inorganic phosphoric acid derivative. n CONSTITUTION: A herbicidal composition containing (A) a bisphosphonic acid derivative of formula (R is H, alkyl or halogen) (novel compound) or its salt, and (B) one or more compounds selected from (a) an aminocarboxylic acid-based chelating agent, (b) an aromatic- or aliphatic carboxylic acid-based chelating agent, (c) an amino acid-based chelating agent such as glycine, (d) iminodimethylphosphonic acid, (e) dimethylglyoxime, (f) an alkyldiphosphonic acid, (g) phosphoric acid, (h) a phosphoric acid salt, and (i) a condensed phosphoric acid salt.
