abstract PURPOSE: A polymer composition which does not separate into two layers and is suitable for processing or as a molding material, obtained by mixing a water-soluble synthetic polymer with a water-soluble grafted starch prepared by grafting a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate to starch. n CONSTITUTION: Starch is grafted with a monomer selected from hydroxyalkyl methacrylates and hydroxyalkyl acrylates (e.g. hydroxymethyl acrylate) to obtain a water-soluble grafted starch having a graft ratio of 0.01W100%, pref. 0.01W50%, and a saponification degree of 0W60%.
