titleOfInvention Anti-inflammatory agent
abstract PURPOSE: To provide an anti-inflammatory agent having anti-esterase activity and broadened inhibition enzyme group, containing at least one compound selected from esterastin, tetrahydroesterastin and their acid addition salts. n CONSTITUTION: The title agent containing esterastin of formula I obtained by culturing specific microorganisms [e.g. Streptomyces lavendulae-MD4-C1 strain (FERM-P No.3723)], tetrahydroesterastin of formula II derived from esterastin I, or their salts (e.g. hydrochloride, sulfate, etc.). Tetrahydroesterastin is prepared by hydrogenating esterastin using Pd, PtO 2 , etc. as a catalyst. n USE: Esterastin and tetrahydroesterastin are effective to reduce anti-body-producing cells and suppress cellular immunity, and useful as remedies for arthritis, rheumatis, disseminated sclerosis, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
