titleOfInvention Manufacturing of feed roller
abstract PURPOSE: To facilitate removal of hollow microspheres remaining at a feed roller from the surface of an elastic member by covering a roller substrate with an elastic member filled with hollow microspheres coated with a parting agent followed by machining the surface of the elastic member. n CONSTITUTION: The surfaces of hollow microspheres 2' such as of silica are precoated with a silicone parting agent or the like, to make the surfaces nonadhesive, then the microspheres 2' are filled in an elastic member 1, the member 1 is applied to a roller substrate, and after curing the member 1 its surface is machined. Because the fragments of the microshperes 2' remaining in recesses formed by the machining are poor in adhesiveness, they can easily be removed from the surface of the member 1, particularly from within the recesses. When a seizure-type parting agent is used, the agent can be removed together with the fragments of the microspheres 2', which is advantageous in that no reduction occures in the friction factor for the agent due to the recesses of the member 1. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
