abstract PURPOSE: To obtain polyester with reduced terminal carboxyl groups having excellent hydrolysis stability by reacting polyester comprising an aromatic dicarboxylic acid component and an organic dihydroxy compound component or the like with a specific epoxy compound in a molten state. n CONSTITUTION: The polyester having intrinic viscosity above 0.3 constituted from an aromatic dicarboxylic acid component (A) and an organic dihydroxy compound component (B) or a hydroxy aromatic monocarboxylic acid component (C), or from (A), (B), and (C) components is reacted in a molten state with an epoxy compound of a formula (wherein R 1 and R 2 are satd. aliphatic group, alicyclic group or aromatic group without ester-forming functional group, R 3 is H, satd. aliphatic group, alicyclic group or aromatic group) to produce a polyester with reduced terminal carboxyl groups. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
