PURPOSE: To soften and reclaim vulcanized rubber without giving out a bad small, by subjecting a mixture of crushed vulcanized rubber, a softening oil, and a copper- amine complex to mechanochemical treatment. n CONSTITUTION: (A) A powdery vulcanized rubber, preferably of particle size 30W 60mesh, e.g. a vulcanizate of natural rubber or synthetic rubber such as styrene- butadiene with a sulfur or an organic peroxide, is mixed with (B) 5W30wt% based on (A) of a softening oil, and (C) 0.3W5wt% of a copper-amine complex, and preferably aged at room temperature for 20W40hr, then subjected to mechanochemical treatment with a Banbury or roll mixer, or mill.
