NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R is H or OH-protecting group). n USE: Drug for accelerating the absorption through the bones or absorption of calcium through the intestinal canals of mammals. n PROCESS: The compound of formula I is prepared by (1) irradiating 24-fluoro-25- hydroxycholesta-5,7-diene or its OH-protected derivative II with UV-radiation in an inert organic solvent such as hexane at -20W+120°C, pref. -10W+50°C, (2) isomerizing the resulting compound III at 20W120°C, pref. 40W100°C, and if necessary, (3) eliminating the OH-protecting group. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio |
