abstract | PURPOSE: To provide a hepatic function improving agent having no side effect, and containing as a main component, a polysaccharide D-11 obtained by extracting cultured mycelia of Ceriolus versicolor IWADE. n CONSTITUTION: A composition containing a polysaccharide D-11 composed mainly of the unit structure of the formula, i.e. β-(1→3), and β-(1→6) glucan structures having β-glucoside bonds, and other effective component. The polysaccharide D-11 is grey-brown powder which can be prepared by (1) culturing Ceriolus versicolor IWADE, (2) extracting the cultured mycelia with hot water, (3) precipitating from the hot water extract by adding an alcohol, etc. and (4) separating and drying the precipitate.
