abstract | NEW MATERIAL:A lactic acid oxidase characterized by: substrate specificity, L-lactic acid; enzymatic activity, L-lactic acid + O 2 → pyruvic acid + H 2 O 2 ; molecular weight 80,000±10,000; isoelectric point, about pH 4.8±0.3. n USE: Determination of purity of lactic acid reagent; quantitative analysis of lactic acid in blood, lactic acid derivatives, etc. Optimum conditions: pH6W7 and about 35°C. n PROCESS: Lactic acid oxidase-producing bacteria belonging to Pediococcus, Streptococcus, etc., are cultured, and the cells are recovered by centrifuging the cultured product. A solution containing lactic acid oxidase can be obtained by mechanical treatment, etc. of the cells.
