PURPOSE: To obtain a rubber-like composition having improved oil and heat resistance, and weatherability, by vulcanizing a copolymer consisting of vinyl acetate, ethylene, and a specific copolymerizable compound in a specified proportion. n CONSTITUTION: Vinyl acetate is copolymerized with an equal amount or less of ethylene and 90 wt.% or less based on the three components of an acrylic ester of formula I: (R 1 is H or 1W4C alkyl group; R 2 is 1W8C alkyl group) and 10 wt.% or less of a compound of formula II, III, or IV: (R 3 is H or methyl group; R 4 is vinyl, allyl, or methallyl group; R 5 is CH 2 CH 2 Cl or COCH 2 Cl). The copolymer thus obtained is hot molded by adding an organic peroxide or epoxide ring opening compound to give a vulcanized rubber material usable for automobile parts and industrial parts in contact with hot oils requiring combined durability. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio |
