PURPOSE: To obtain a room temperature drying aqueous coating composition for coating metal, having improved chemical resistance, weatherability, gloss, and adhesivity, by incorporating a polymer hydrosol with a water-soluble resin. n CONSTITUTION: (A) A polymer hydrosol having an average particle size of 0.01W 0.1μ, consisting of (a) 1W10wt% of an α,β-monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, e.g. acrylic or itaconic acid, (b) 10W80wt% of an alkenyl aromatic monomer, e.g. styrene or vinyltoluene, (c) 89W19wt% of an acrylic or methacrylic ester, and (d) 0W30wt% of another α,β-monoethylenically unsaturated monomer, e.g. acrylonitrile or vinyl acetate is incorporated with (B) a vehicle ingredient, e.g. a water-soluble alkyd or epoxy ester resin at a weight ratio of (A) to (B) of 95:5W55:45. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio |
