abstract PURPOSE: The title adhesive having improved adhesiveness free from toxicity and flammability, comprising an ester-forming alkali metal sulfonate and a glycol component comprising a 1,4-bis(hydroxyalkoxy)benzene. n CONSTITUTION: (A) A dicarboxylic acid consisting of an aromatic and an aliphatic dicarboxylic acids at a molar ratio of 10:1W1:10, or its ester-forming derivative and (B) 3W10 mol% based on (A) of an ester-forming alkali metal sulfonate are subjected to ester interchange with (C) a glycol component comprising 5W60 mol% of a 1,4-bis(hydroxyalkoxy)benzene in the presence of a catalyst at 140W240°C while distilling away methanol, and then polycondensed in the presence of a polymerization catalyst and a phosphorus compound at 200W290°C and a high degree of vacuum of 0.01W50mmHg while distilling away the glycol to give the desired water- soluble adhesive. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
