| abstract | PURPOSE: To provide a remedy for hyperglycemia, having excellent blood sugar level depressing activity and blood platelet coagulation suppressing activity, coatining a specific benzyl alcohol derivative as an effective component. n CONSTITUTION: A composition containing α-(2,3,4-trimethoxyphenetylaminomethyl)-2-hydroxybenzyl alcohol or its salt, e.g. a compound of formula I, as an effective component. Since many of the patients of diabets are accompanined by the blood vessel diseases such as arteriosclerosis, thrombosis, etc., the compound is especially useful as a remedy for hyperglycemia. The compound of the formula I can be prepared by subjecting 2,3,4-trimethoxyphenetylamine and a compound of formula II (R is benzyl), successively to the condensation, reduction, optical resolution and catalytic reduction. Dose: 20μgW2mg/kg daily for the depression of the blood sugar level, and 1W100mg/kg daily for the suppression of blood platelet coagulation. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio |
