titleOfInvention Oil-in-water emulsion composition
abstract PURPOSE:To prepare an oil-in-water emulsion composition having excellent storage stability, by reacting and emulsifying a mixture of higher fatty acids comprising gehenic acid and a specific fatty acid with a basic compound. CONSTITUTION:An oil-in-water emulsion composition having excellent effect to the skin, is prepared by reacting higher fatty acids with a basic compound, wherein said higher fatty acids are a mixture of behenic acid and a 18-36C fatty acid which is liquid at room temperature, e.g. isostearic acid, oleic acid, ricinoleic acid, etc., and the basic compound is e.g. L-arginine, L-ornithine, L-lysine, KOH, etc. The amount of the higher fatty acid is 0.5-10.0wt% based on the whole composition, and that of the basic compound is 0.1-0.7 part by weight based on 1 part of the higher fatty acid. Addition of sorbitanemonoester, etc. to the composition further improves the stability, and the addition of tocopherol is effective to prevent the time-dependent degradation of the emulsion.
