titleOfInvention Manufacturing equipment for polyester
abstract PURPOSE: To provide the title equipment in which a shell-and -tubetype heat exchanger so designed that the vapor flow in the shell and the cooling water tubes become rectangular each other is installed, as a condenser, over the condensate tank to prevent the vacuum-line clogging. n CONSTITUTION: The present invention relates to a novel manufacturing equipment for polyesters carrying, as a condenser, a shell-and-tube type heat exchanger so designed that the vapor flow in the shell and the cooling water tubes become rectangular each other; the equipment works as follows: The reaction system held in the polycondensation vessel is put to a state of reduced pressure, evolving a vapor comprising an alkylene glycol and bis(-β-hydroxyalkyl)terephthalate and the accompanying oligomer spray. Most of the spray, though attached to the pipe wall adjacent to the exit of the vessel, may flow down in a molten state into the vessel by heating a jacket 8. Whereas, said vapor along with part of the spary is cooled by the condenser 14 described above into droplets which fall in the condensate tank 10. The accompanying fine mist may also be converted into droplets at the same time, becoming free from being subjected to suction through the vacuum-line 12 to the ejector 13. The process described above enables the vacuum-line 12 to be prevented from clogging. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
