abstract | NEW MATERIAL:A phosphorus-containing vinylphenol derivative of formula I (Z is O or S; X is halogen; R is 1W6C monofunctional hydrocarbon group). n EXAMPLE: O-Methyl-(p-styrene)-chlorophosphate. n USE: Reactive flame-retardants, chelating resin, intermediates for adhesives, capable of giving substances having stable flame retardancy wherein P is homogeneously dispersed and chemically bonded, by polymerization with the vinyl group. The OH group formed by hydrolysis of the polymer provides a stable chelate with metallic ions. n PROCESS: Vinyl phenol is reacted with an alkali metal hydride, hydroxide, or alkoxide, to form an alkali metal vinylphenoxide, which is reacted with a compound of formula II in small portions under anhydrous conditions at 0W50°C while preventing the thermal polymerization to give the compound of formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio |
