titleOfInvention | Manufacture of mold |
abstract | PURPOSE: To improve moldability of a frozen mold by improving fluidity of sand, by forming a frozen coating layer of water of surfaces of grains of sand and then adding a caking material on surfaces to obtain coated sand to be used. n CONSTITUTION: Water is added to molding sand, which is cooled over mlxing to form coating layer 2 of frozen water on the surface of each grain of sand 1. Then, deposit powder 3, etc., is added as an adhesive and kneaded to obtain coated sand with frozen coating layer 2 covered with deposit powder 3. Those are put in a model and molded by pressure to manufacture a frozen mold. In this case, frictional heat among grains of sand is generated in application of pressure to melt water on the surface of the coating layer and subsequent thermal conduction freezes the melted water to put grains in airtight contact, thereby manufacturing a mold without unevenness in tightness. This frozen mold is heated dielectrically for thawing and drying, so that deformation of this mold can be prevented. In this method, molding operation is carried out in an excellent operation atmosphere. Further, this mold is disintegrated easily after casting. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio |
