abstract | PURPOSE:To form a stable magenta dye image by using a specified azo dye image forming compound. CONSTITUTION:To a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer is added a compound of formula I in which Q<1> is H, halogen, or formula II; R<3> is H or alkyl; R<4> is H or R<4a>; R<4a> is alkyl, aryl, or the like; Q<2> is situated in the 5- or 8-position with respect to G, and it is OH, formula III or IV; R<1a> is 2 or more C alkylene; R<2a> is alkyl; m, q are 0 or 1; J is sulfonyl or carbonyl; Z is as R<3>; X is formula V; A1, A2 are alkylene or arylene; L is oxy, carbonyl, or the like; n, p are 0 or 1; G is OH, its salt, or hydrolyzable hydroxy; Y is a component forming an azo dye compound different from the azo dye image forming compound in diffusivity as a result of development processing in an alkaline condition, but Y is not o- or p-hydroxyarylsulfamoyl having a ballast group; and all the alkyl aryl groups may be substituted. |
