titleOfInvention Improved local topicum
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare a local topicum gel suppressing bleeding of the polymeric compound on the surface of the skin, thereby giving improved feeling in use, and containing a specific cellulosic polymeric compound. n CONSTITUTION: A topicum containing a cellulosic polymeric compound soluble in water and alcohols, preferably hydroxypropylcellulose (HPC). HPC is registered in the Japan PHarmacopoeia and prepared by reacting cellulose with propylene oxide. A topicum containing about 1W5wt% of HPC can suppress the bleeding. The specific cellulosic polymeric compound is particularly useful for topicums comprising a carboxyvinyl polymer as a base. In compounding the gel for an aqueous topicum with an active component poorly soluble in water, addition of propylene carbonate is effective to improve the solubility of the active component. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
