titleOfInvention Two-color heat-sensitive recording material
abstract PURPOSE:In a two-color heat-sensitive recording material whose upper layer consists of specified coloring components, to form a stable fresh two-color image by providing a decoloring agent between two coloring layers and adding a specified decoloring agent to the upper layer. CONSTITUTION:A high-temperature heat-sensitive coloring layer 2, low-temperature heat-sensitive coloring layer 3, and decoloring layer 4 are formed on a support body 1 such as paper. The components of the layer 3 are: one parts by weight of a noncolored or light-colored leuco dye, e.g. a compound of the formula I (each of Rx, Ry, and R2 is H, OH, or the like); 3 to 8 parts by weight of a phenolic or acid substance, e.g. thymol, as a developer, 0.2 to 1.2 parts by weight (per one part by weight of the total of the former two components) of an organic high polymeric compound, e.g. polyvinyl alcohol, as a binder; and 0.02 to 0.3 parts by weight (per one part by weight of the total of the former two components) of an oxidized alkylene adduct of bisphenol which is white solid at normal temperature and is represented by formula II (n=2 or 3), as a decoloring agent. The decoloring layer 4 contains 0.3 to 3.0 parts by weight of the decoloring agent, which is not restricted to the above-specified compound but may be an alcohol that is solid at normal temperature. The layer 2 does not need decoloring, so that a well known coloring system can be used.
