titleOfInvention | Purification of substituted anthraquinone |
abstract | PURPOSE: A crude anthraquinone with substituents resulting from the Diels-Alder reaction is treated with an organic acid or others to remove the alkaline impurities, followed by distillation or sublimation, thus giving highly purified product. n CONSTITUTION: Naphthoquinone or benzoquinone and a substituted butadiene are subjected to the Diels-Alder reaction to prepare a substituted tetrahydro- or octahydroantharquinone, which is oxidized in the presence of an alkaline compound to give a crude anthraquininoe with substituents. After treated with an organic acid, or organic acid anhydride or acidic alkali salt of organic acid, preferably phthalic acid or its anhydride, the product is distilled or sublimated to give the purified anthraquinone derivative. n EFFECT: The removal of the alkaline impurities prohibits the polycondensation of the crude anthraquinone. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio |
