PURPOSE: To obtain the high purity title compound, having a remarkable antiallergic activity and a strong surface activity, in high yield and in a shorter process than the conventinal one, by the hydrogenation of a cyclohexanecarboxylic acid derivative. n CONSTITUTION: A cyclohexanecarboxylic acid delivative of formula I (R= isohexyl, 4-methyl-3-pentenyl), e.g. 1-methyl-4-isohexyl-3-cyclohexene-1-carboxylic acid, is hydrogenated with H 2 gas in an inert solvent, e.g. ethanol, in the presence of a catalyst, e.g. active carbon with Pt, Pt dioxide etc., under stirring and shaking to give trans- or cis-1-methyl-4-isohexylcyclohexanecarboxylic acid of formula II. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio |
