abstract NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I [R 1 and R 2 are H, -CH 2 SR 3 (R 3 is alkyl or aryl group which may be substituted), however, both R 1 and R 2 are not H]. n EXAMPLE: 1-Methylthiomethyl-5-fluorouracil. n USE: Carcinostatics effective against mouse leukemia L-1210. n PROCESS: 5-Fluoro-2,4-bis-trimethyl-silyloxypyrimidine is reacted with a chloride of the formula Cl-CH 2 SR 3 in the presence of an acid catalyst, e.g. SnCl 4 , iron chloride, TiCl 4 ,or AlCl 3 at room temperature to 120°C, e.g. 70°C for 1hr, to give the objective compound of formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
