titleOfInvention | Preparation of water-dispersible pigment |
abstract | PURPOSE: To prepare a water-dispersible pigment easily dispersible in water and giving a dispersion having high stability, by the graft polymerization of pigment dispersed in an acidic solution with a water-soluble vinyl monomer in the presence of a cerium salt. n CONSTITUTION: A graft-polymerizable pigment such as carbon black, etc. is dispersed in a ≥20%, pref. 50W70% aqueous solution of acetic acid, and grafted with 5W100wt%, pref. 10W80wt% of a water-soluble vinyl monomer such as acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, ethacrylic acid, etc. or their amides, adding 0.01W0.1mole per 1l of the aqueous solution, of a cerium salt such as ceric nitrate, etc., at 30W 80°C in N 2 stream. After the polymerization, the graft polymer is filtered and washed with water to obtain the objective water-dispersible pigment. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio |
