abstract | PURPOSE: To provide a selective herbicide for paddy rice field, effective to deccan grass, etc., containing a specific phenazine derivative as an effective component. n CONSTITUTION: A composition containing a phenazine derivative of the formula (R 1 is H, Cl; R 2 is Cl, nitro, lower alkoxy, aryloxy, when R 1 is H; and R 2 is lower alkoxy or aryloxy when R 1 is Cl), or its 5-monoxide, 10-monoxide, or 5, 10-dioxide, e.g. 2-methoxy-7-chlorophenazine, as an effective component. Applied to a paddy rice field before transplantation of rice plant or to the leaves and stalks of young deccan grass, at an application rate of 20W1000g per 10 ares of the field.
