PURPOSE: To prepare an insulin-containing emulsion for oral administration, composed of an insulin-containing water phase, an oily phase enclosing said water phase, and a continuous water phase enclosing the oily phase, by treating an insulin- containing aqueous solution with the oily substance and an emulsifier. n CONSTITUTION: An emulsifier comprising a polyoxyethylene hardened castor oil derivative, a yolk lecithin, or soybean lecithin, is dissolved in an oily substance comprising a medium or higher fatty acid, its ester, a medium or higher alcohol, or a medium or higher triglyceride, (e.g. oleic acid). An insulin-containing aqueous solution is added to the above solution, and emulsified to obtain a W/O emulsion. The emulsion is further emulsified in water with the above emulsifier to obtain an insulin-containing W/O/W emulsion, which is scarcely affected by digestive ferment and useful for the oral administration. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio |
