titleOfInvention Manufacture of aqueous magnesium hydroxide dispersion
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled dispersion of high concn. and low viscosity suitable for use as an absorbing agent, etc. by dispersing magnesium hydroxide fine powder in water in the presence of a neutralization product prepared by neutralizing a polymer of an unsaturated monocarboxylic selected from a group consisting of acrylic acid, etc. with an alkali. n CONSTITUTION: Magnesium hydroxide fine powder is dispersed in water in the presence of a neutralization product prepared by neutralizing a polymer of one or more kinds of unsaturated monocarboxylic acids selected from a group consisting of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, etc. with an alkali, preferably NaOH. The polymerization degree of the polymer is about 10W500. The neutralization product is used in an amount of about 0.05W5wt% to the amount of magnesium hydroxide. Thus, an aqueous magnesium hydroxide dispersion of high concn. and low viscosity is obtd. It is suitable for use as a cheap neutralizing source for an absorbing soln. for a wet process exhaust gas desulfurizer, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
