titleOfInvention Production of microporous permeable polymer film
abstract PURPOSE: To readily obtain a polymer film having extremely excellent air and moisture permeability, by dispersing in a polymer solution, swellable clay which can be swollen and removed at the time when the polymer solution is coagulated into a polymer in a coagulating bath. n CONSTITUTION: A microporous, air-permeable polymer film is produced by dispersing swellable clay such as bentonite in a polymer solution which is converted into a coagulated product by a wet coagulation process; coating a substrate with the resulting dispersion to form a film; and then, immersing the coated substrate in a coagulating bath containing a liquid which acts as a nonsolvent for the polymer but acts as a liquid having such affinity for the swellable clay as to swell and disperse it. Restrictions are not placed on the diameter of the swellable clay and the clay is used, for example, in the form of suspension. Clay which passes a 100 mesh screen can be used in the form of powder. The amount of the clay used is about 30W300%, based on the synthetic polymer. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
